"The Minster Rally"
International rally 2023, Beverley
The location for this year's main Austin A30-A35 event was the lovely village of Beverley. A lovely town not far from Hull.
Love in an Elevator
Wednesday
Waiting to go on the ferry
Yes, it was a fake wheel.. I tested it.
A comfortable evening. All settled in, the stories already started flowing
Watching the sun set, lovely over the water.
Thursday
Coming of the ferry, we had problems with one of the cars, it did not want to start. The problem was diagnosed quickly, no spark. The points in the distributer were to blame. The follower was all worn down, they did not open anymore. A small adjustment, and it was ready to go.
Enough expertise.
The big Ferry, tied to shore in Hull.
A lot of Hull was new, but the old part did have some really nice old buidlings.
Off to the city center!
The Streetlife museum has some really nice examples of old transportation, right up our alley.
We also managed to find the Arcade, I had already seen pictures online, however, it is always different in real life.
Front of the arcade. Good that they placed that sign
On arrival at he rally field we had the tent up in no time at all.
Classic...
Beverley also held some nice views in store for us. This became apparent on our little evening strolls
The lantern provides light and a bit of warmth in the tent.
Friday
On Friday we ventured off in the direction of York, a visit to the National railwaymuseum is obviusly something that we cannot pass on.
An overview of the big train shed. Look at all those lovely trains.
The big streamlined steam engines are impressive machines. So much bigger than the Austin, but in service around the same time.
After the museum a bunch of us ventured out to the historical center of York to look around and have some icecream.
The Cathedral
Lovely old shop fronts
That looks like a Dutch bike, this bar looks very appealing. We did not enter.
Coffee Yard! Mind your head Koen
Humorous sign!
Yes, that Icecream I mentioned earlier.
An end to a very nice and sunny day with a nice trip back to the Rugby field.
Selling my homemade items. I am happy to say that people liked what I had produced. I will make some other items next year!
A very nice and sunny day! Wear Sunscreen!
Lots of lovely cars on the field
The supreme section, small but exccelent.

An overview
The view from the clubbuidling
Could not resist to add a picture of my own car! ;-)
In the afternoon we went to a light house. The drive up was so nice, really enjoyable.
This is the Lighthouse mentioned. It is the Farnborouhg lighthouse. The whole area is very nice and there is a restaurant as well as an tourist shop.
Look at that view
The lighthouse looking back
There are some seals here, if you look really closely
More seals, here they are easier to spot!
We also ran into a lovely couple that drove up in their Austin Seven (Ruby?) Also the Austin Seven club had a rally in the Area.
Another picture perfect sunset to close off the day with.
The weather had turned gray and overcast, but that did not stop us having a good time. These Owners had really outdone themselves. The van was packed with perioud correct stuff!
Saturday was the day of judging the cars, the British club Annual meeting and the auction.
Nice butt!
The Dutch cars that made the crossing this year!
On this final day, we decided to go to an aircraft museum. This was located close to York, as you can see on the GPS map above. We drove on some of the same roads that we took a few days before.
Having a coffee.
Thay had some really good planes!!
And it was a lovely drive
Afther packing the tents, it was time to head off to the ferry. With the rally that close to Hull, the trip back did not take long at all.
Before we knew we were back in the spot we sat in on the way to England, enjoying the last drinks of the trip.
I would like to thank the organsiation and my fellow travelers for the amazing weekend. As always, it was great fun and I really enjoyed myself.
